There’s something about watching destruction unfold that is very entertaining to watch. Wood cutting is a lot of fun in Valheim, watching the trees tumble down to the forest floor while knocking other trees as they go. The Black Forest is home to nasty creatures that can easily outnumber you. Getting Core Wood can pose more of a challenge than you might think. Pine Trees are only found in the Black Forest and are identified by their tall skinny trunks. Bottom Line-Up FrontĬore Wood is an important building material in Valheim that is obtained from Pine Trees. But in order to build your dream log cabin, you’ll need Core Wood. Like any survival, a game shelter is crucial to fending off these hindrances. You will not only have to contend with a range of wicked monsters but also meet requirements for survival such as hunger and heat. Although beautiful, the world is hazardous. This game seemingly came out of nowhere for me, and I was utterly hooked. Valheim is a spectacular survival game released in February 2021 and another game that saved me from boredom in the UK COVID lockdown. Instead, I’ll focus on the more humble Pine Tree, a substantial tree nonetheless, to acquire Core Wood to build a home that is more than just a hovel. However, I won’t be cutting this titan of a tree down anytime soon. As a survival game, I’m already getting ideas. Just look up in-game, and you’ll see Yggdrasil the God Tree sprawling overhead. It’s plain to see that Iron Gate Studios used Norse mythology as their source material when developing Valheim. Make sure to return to your workbench, upgrade it by crafting a chopping woodpile and a tanning rack, and continue adventuring in Valheim to find more resources. Upon initially grabbing a core wood, you’ll learn several new recipes that you can use to craft various items. You might from some regular wood in that pile of core wood that drops, so it’s a win-win scenario for you. Much like the regular trees, once these crash to the ground, they’ll become logs, and you can cut those up to harvest your core wood. It makes chopping down pine trees significantly easier. Once you have enough, take it to a workbench, make sure it’s under shelter, and then craft a flint ax. They’re silver and work similarly to rocks where you have to interact with them and then pick them up. You can find flint on the shores of rivers and lakes. You can chop down a pine tree with a stone ax, but it’s recommended you craft a flint ax. They’re going to look slightly different from the beech trees you’ve been harvesting for the standard wood to build your house, workbench, and several starting items. When you’re in the Black Forest, you want to look for pine trees.
